What is the Blogging Lounge?

I decided that this weekend would be left up to cleaning and editing. I've had a lot of dishes pile up (our dishwasher broke years ago and we haven't had the moolah to replace it) over the past week so that's one thing I have to catch up on. The other is the cleaning and organizing of my desk.

Whenever I decide to do an out with the old, in with the new moment, I try to go through my entire room, and see what can get ditched. Mostly minor things that have piled up around my room or desk area that should be dealt with so I can have a clean work area. Nothing like a clean kitchen to make me want to cook all day, and the same goes for clean and organized work area. Production gets boosted. It's weird how such a little thing can make a drastic change.

I am constantly changing--aren't we all--and try to redo myself overall a lot throughout each year. So when that feeling strikes me, as it has this week, I know I just need a change. In my private life there have been some changes and that sometimes will spur that feeling on, so that too, is why I'm doing this.

And on the editing side, I have been a bit lacking with my focus because of what's been going on with my private life, as well as what's been going on with me taking over the old GBE2 that was on Facebook (was GBE on MySpace), and trying to get organized with it, as well as bringing some new people in, renaming it, and deciding on a posting schedule. Below I'm going to include a bunch of information if you'd like to try it out yourself, including what it is. I'm incredibly excited over the possibilities with it, and I'm grateful that a lot of the individuals have felt comfortable in continuing on with me. As well as being grateful for the ones who've decided to come by and check it out that haven't before done so.

So this weekend I will be editing Dark Illusions: The Final Chapter and pouring all my focus into that, which means a major leap through.

As for the writing group. I'm in final stages of choosing a name, but we have settled on the posting schedule being twice a month. The first prompt will post on the 8th of January. The next will be the 22nd. Those dates are when the prompts will post every month. I'm not sure of the time. I'll try to make sure they're up by the afternoon.

Going to share the document I have up on FB to explain more. If you'd like to join on FB, the group is here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1377737912484876/

If you'd like to participate, but not join the group on Facebook, you're still more than welcome to. Once I figure out a name for the group, I will be adding a hashtag that you are able to tag your posts with so you can be a part of the group by using the tag on Twitter when you share something.

And you can participate by also coming by this site. On my home page, I will have a box that features the prompt, as well as the link to the specific post. The images that hold the prompts will be shared on my social networks, and when you've shared your blog post, you can come back here to find the blog post, and share your link. The images I make for the prompts are yours to share and use as you like. If you have a friend who you'd like to join, let them know of this group.

I think I'm going to be making a place on my Forum for this as well so you can come by and chat with anyone not on Facebook. Or just chat in my comments area. You know I don't mind having you guys converse down there. :) For the writing groups, fans of my writing, anything.

This is a great community of bloggers who've been blogging together for a very long time. They are incredibly encouraging, try to stop by and read your posts, then leave a comment (please try to do the same if you read), and share some great things to read. You can tag me in the shares on any social profile when you do one. :) I would love to read your creative posts, or watch those vlogs to see what you come up with.

So even if you're not a writer, you can come by to read the posts from a group of talented writers.

==============

What is this group about?

This group follows the old GBE from MySpace, and GBE2 that took over from there. GBE stands for Group Blogging Experience, and that was what it was about. A group of individuals coming together to blog, who turned into their own community of encouragment, acceptance, respect, and love.

The first person who started the group on MySpace would post prompts and then it was up to you to blog about it however you liked. Back then it was the MySpace blogs and Alicia would link each one in her one blog (you can imagine how exhausting that would have been for her). Then when it was picked up on Facebook and turned into GBE2, people blogged into Facebook notes, WordPress, Blogger, you name it.

What are the prompts?

The prompts can be anything. A word, sentence, a picture, a video, a song, a song lyric. I mean anything.

Where are the prompts?

The current prompt is located [and pinned] at the top of the group's main wall as a document. Past prompts are located within the "files" tab, and will have the date, prompts, and all the participants blog posts in the comments.

The other main site to find them on, is on the admin's website: arianabrowning.com. There will be a box on that main page. Inside the box will be the prompt, as well as a link to her blog post that you can leave your specific blog post link to that prompt, in the comments area if you'd like. All past blogs that have to do with this group will be found in her navigation bar under the group name.

The hashtag for this group is: # (yet to be determined) -- I'll add once we determine a name, lol.

The prompts will also go through Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, and the Facebook Profile of the Admin. Her info can be found within the "files" tab and the document for "Members Information." All with the same hastag #(yet to be determined).

How often do the prompts get posted?

Two times a month.

Do I have to participate every single time?

It would be nice, but no. You do it as often as you like, or can. Same with commenting. This is a place of community, but you aren't under any obligation to post every single last time there is a prompt. That's up to you. I would like to see more participation overall, but again, for every prompt, you don't have to post if you aren't inspired to. Just please try. I'd be incredibly happy to read it.

What can I write about?

You interpret the prompts however you like. You can even vlog (video blog) it if you would like. I'd love to see some of those cropping up if some people find that easier.

Okay, I blogged, so where does the link go?

Post the specific URL link to the blog post that has to do with the prompt, in the comments area of the document for that specific prompt. Every time a new prompt is posted, it can be found pinned on the top of the main feed within the group. That way all the links will remain organized, members can find your posts, and all past post/links will be located within the "files" tab above.

If you share it on a social site, especially Twitter, include the hashtag (# to be determined) when you share so others can find you!

Can I share other blogs I write about?

You sure can. Go to the "files" tab and find the current document for extra links. Say you write a blog in January. Simply find the document that says "January - February 2014 Blog Links" and put the link to your blog post into the comments area. Again, it will keep the main wall clear of excess links and everyone will be able to find the posts easy.

Don't worry that others won't find it. When you comment on anything, that post or document is instantly raised up to the top of the news feed. People will see it, and the wonderful people within this group have always been good about trying to read everything posted, whether comment or blog post. A lot of the time you'll see the "like" notification come through, which means "I have read this."

Can I invite a friend?

The more the merrier. Of course you can.

Can I ask a question? Post on the main wall? Bug the admin?

Of course you can. You can also tag the admin (Ariana Browning, moiself) when you share your blog posts, or post to my profile wall. I don't mind that, as long as you stick to doing it with the prompts. Otherwise I may end up with a gazillion darn tags and I will be swimming in them going heeeelllpppp. :p

Also, my door is always open so you're welcome to post questions to me, tag me to get my attention, or message me. I have my handy dandy Facebook Messenger installed on my phone (because I don't have phone service) so you can message me if you need to. For anything at all.

Any other questions?

          RULES
==================

  • Treat everyone with respect. Whether their opinion is the same as yours or not, remember that they too are a human being. Their lives and their experiences give them different thoughts and ideas than you. That is their right. With free speech comes a responsbility for what you say. Be respectful. Disagree and debate, but remember to respect.

  •  If you're going to participate with this group, avoid using captcha. I know that everyone wants to be safe and for a long time I had used it myself. Even now, if you went through my SPAM, you'd see a ton of junk, but keep the captcha off if you participate with this group. Below is the link to the Disqus commenting system I use, and have found it extremely helpful in avoiding spam.

  • You can share helpful links on the main wall that someone might be interested in, but NO Spamming or Selling*

*Admin won't hesitate to remove without explanation, or place link in correct place. If you have any questions, just ask first.

  • Want to show love to your fellow bloggers with some badges? Check out this page here - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blogging-Badges/300726749969260
  • Disqus commenting system. The one you see on my site, the admin, has a code switcheroo so if more than one person comments, it'll pop up the ability to also have a separate Google comment system. That's just my own code alteration I did on it. Otherwise, everything you see is a representation of it with basic settings. So you can see it in action. The system alters itself for mobile, and you have the ability to use different social networks to comment, or anonymous. http://disqus.com/

  1. I appreciate all of the work you've put into The Blogging Lounge. ;) Good luck catching up on everything. I think we should also set a rule banning captcha.

  2. Thank you. Oooo I see what you're doing there, haha. You know what? I think that's a great idea. I know people want to be safe, but that is usually a huge reason people avoid commenting.

Ladies and Gentlemen….

Normally, right about now, I would feel inclined to continue with “and children of all ages” (guess I’ve been to the circus just one time too many) but this time instead of introducing some dancing bears or the Flying Wallendas, I’m simply here to introduce myself. My name is Tracie Dee . I’ve been writing for about 4 years now and got my start blogging on MySpace. I love writing but these days, I’m also finding enjoyment with vlogging. I have found that videos are a nice way to share what words alone might not give justice to and also for people to really get to know the person behind the words and the keyboard. Overall, I consider myself to be a pretty down to earth and upbeat person, whose sense of humor can be a bit wacky at times. Hey, life can be rough and sometimes laughter and levity can be our only saving grace to help us get through it all. I consider it to be our very own little light at the end of the tunnel that serves to remind us that even during the very worst

(GBE 2:Blog On) First Love

Old post being reposted. GBE2: Blog On's Topic this week is: First Love Click the link to find out what GBE2: Blog On is and how YOU can participate. If you love writing and/or blogging, it's the place to go! Great people, great fun, what more could you ask for? FIRST LOVE When I first saw the topic for this week's GBE2, my first thought was of the friendship I walked away from just last week. He was one of my first love's. But I had already talked about it on a previous web post so I wanted something different. I just didn't want to focus on it. Today, while I was doing dishes, a.k.a inspiring myself, I thought of a different first love. To myself. I do too. I love myself. I may not always like myself... I mean come on, if you had to live with her 24/7 she might drive you batty too. But I do love myself. People can tell you so. I don't need to. Well I did, but... I'm digressing. I'm quirky, crazy (two different things there obbb
