And the race begins!

I’ve officially begun the Anora – Druid novel.  And then it occurs to me as I am, I should get started on a cover for it too. I happened to think just now, I ran across a couple images that may work for a cover. Or at least a cover for this blog series as I write the book. I’ll have to work on that soon. Today I finished  Daughter of the Red Planet  and sent it off to Creech Enterprises for the first go round. Back to the novel:  I wrote 1600 words today. A good first go. I think I had almost 600 in the notebook I’d played with to get an idea of the first setting scene. Setting scene as in, you open the book and start to read and I tried to set the stage for what it was like. I opened it with the forest + animals + trees + Anora + the city she came from. All things that are connected to her being a Druid and a Fantasy book. I’ll connect and work out more elements since I am nearing the end of the chapter, but I’m teaching myself to work that first chapter into saying here is what thi

We have reached the finish line! Next.

I finished Witness to the Moon this week. [dances and celebrates] That means that tomorrow I can start on my Anora – Druid Story. I definitely didn’t expect to end the story at such a low number, but as I’ve stated before, in my edits I can tend to put a lot into the story with details. Sometimes to the point where I started at 70K and ended at nearing 100K. That’s how vague I am in the writing stage. The funniest thing. I think I read that Holly Lisle does the same thing. I’ll take that as a good thing. I’ve been putting in a lot of words for each of my writing sessions I noticed. Except for the day where I got little sleep, I’ve been nearing 2K which is normal for me. I like that. Means that I’m getting good sleep on those days, the story is flowing, and I’m making good headway on the novel. Random sidebar: I am currently listening to a Chihuahua telling the world that it is outside. It used to be a Rat Terrier mix that lived next door and we’d hear nearly all day long, and

What happened there?

Finishing  Witness to the Moon  this week. I am entirely surprised by a scene that took place today. I kept asking myself while I wrote the past few days, how on earth a strong Lycaen like Alex could find himself overpowered. How could a man like Alex ever be taken by anyone? And then . . . bam. Oh. That’s how. I hadn’t thought about it, hadn’t considered, hadn’t even come  close  to registering in my head. Then while I was writing, I learned just how a man like Alex could find himself weakened. Oh the terribleness of it all. :D <–because you wanna know, huh? I would! But you have to read to learn. I think I may finish writing the book tomorrow if all goes well. Or Thursday. There isn’t much left that I want to say in this story. I want the next part to take place in the third book. What  is working itself in my brain though is how and where will this go? I know where it’s headed, but the after is what I’m curious about. What is going to take place? Don’t quote me on this, but

On the finish line

Working on  Witness to the Moon  this week. I’ll definitely finish this book by the end of this week and then like I mentioned on Friday, I will start in on the Anora – Druid story. My extent of outlining for that story so far has been to play with questions like,  What is her biggest challenge? What  does she want, and what stands in her way of getting it? Not much in other words. I’ve been reading up on Druids to get a good handle on what specifics I may not know, but want to include, and what sort of research I may want to play with in the story. Otherwise I’ll probably go into this the way I have for most stories. I have a few starter bullet points that I put in a story notes spot at the end of the MS, and then I just start to write. Almost Into The Dark   like Dean Wesley Smith, lol. As typical my characters have decided that my plans for the end of Witness to the Moon  aren’t exactly as I wanted them to be. Some of it is, but the information that I was thinking about saving unt

Didn’t see that coming

Working on  Witness to the Moon  this week. Since I’m going to work on this for another week, I may just keep going with this one, rather than start the Anora – Druid story that I wanted to. I’m thinking that I will try that out for a change. Work on one novel exclusively until it’s done. My biggest concern that I always think about with writing one exclusive novel is the boredom. As much as I love to write novels, if I don’t constantly switch what I’m working on (probably why I can work on a ton of projects at once) then I get bored and I struggle with the work. It’s not writing either so I know it isn’t a “writing” issue per se. My issue is pure boredom. I get bored extremely easy if my brain isn’t constantly changing things up. Even with chores and every day life, talking to people, you name it. I haven’t tried to write only one novel at once in a few years. So I will challenge myself to do just that. See how fast it goes, how well it works out, etc. I could always add another if

Reaching new heights in this Universe

Working on  Witness to the Moon  this week. I’m definitely gonna be working on this for another week. There are places I need to go that I won’t reach tomorrow. New information is being learned in the story right now and I’m working through the character’s thoughts and reactions on said information.   Not sure if you’d be interested in checking it out, but Dean Welsey Smith (who inspired this chronicling of the writing and such every day) is doing a blog series right now on how to write a novel in 7 days. No kidding. His plan is to increase the words by 1000 every day, until he finishes the novel. The start is 3000 words. Stop by his website ( http://ift.tt/1eIsZzg ) and you can check out his posts. Yesterday he posted the prologue to the story and today was the start of the challenge. I’m trying to get a major boost on the edits for  Daughter of the Red Planet  today because I’ve been changing and adding details before Jeanie gives it a run though. I was hoping to finish it and g

My Pet Peeve: Make-up Abuse

I consider myself to be a fairly tolerant and laid back person. I try not to let a lot of stuff REALLY bother me because quite frankly, life is too short to let the little stuff stress you out….cause there is always a TON of the big stuff around that will do the job just fine! But I’m human and sometimes some little thing will just piss me off and cheese my Cheetos. And one thing in particular that does is…..MAKE-UP ABUSE! Now, you may be asking yourself just what I mean by “make-up abuse”. Well, I’m not talking about having someone rough you up with rouge or mistreat you with mascara. I’m not even talking about the blatant overuse of the Avon lady’s goodies, either.  (Hey….give her a break….she needs to rest sometime!) Although if cosmetic overindulgence truly was a crime punishable by law… I think Drew Carey’s nemesis Mimi Bobeck  and Jim Bakker’s former better half, the late Tammy Faye Bakker (God rest her heavy mascara-laden soul) would have been cellmates in County Cover Girl loc

Surprise, surprise.

Working on  Witness to the Moon  this week. May end up being the final week I do, but I may have to do another week. Some amazing words today. The story flew. I went into that zone that the words just purged. So today I learned some interesting information. I had not planned for it either. Never once considered an  inkling  of it happening. I’m referring to  Witness to the Moon and writing, obviously, haha. I’m happy though! It’s so much fun to write in this Universe. There is no telling where it will end, or how long it will play out. How many more books in me for this world? Who knows? It’s an amazing storyline and I’m really enjoying where it is right now. Also note that having the  Outlander  soundtrack playing in the background is awesome for this book. Just a random note. One thing I know is just how much I love writing. This job is the best thing in the world and I am so blessed to be able to do it, to live it, and to have the opportunities that I have. Just beautiful. Yest

Working on  Witness to the Moon  this week. May end up being the final week I do, but I may have to do another week. I did have something I wanted to write and chat about but things came up, and I’m completely exhausted because lots of sleep interruptions happened last night. So my brain is wonked and I am too. I’ll write tomorrow. I’m glad that I was able to get words written today, even as many as I did. Have you checked out the free preview of  Blood By Night ?     Word count I started the day with:  63,053   Worked from 10:30-11:30AM. Ended the day at: 63,907. Goal for this book is around 80K for writing only (editing I put in a lot of words). Total for the day: 854 words   Current Book I’m Reading – A Dance with Dragons –  George R.R. Back to Mila today

Got more words than I thought I would. Mostly because being a Monday and the first day I’ve written in this story for over a week, (I think it’s been almost 9 days) I didn’t think I’d get many. That means that I had to go back in the story by one full chapter and read it all over again. I didn’t remember where I left off at all. Not even kidding about that. When I started to read the story again I knew where I left off and then reading my notes told me where I was headed, but when I first opened the manuscript? Nada, zip, zilch. I remembered  nothing . That’s so fun now. I don’t think it’s a memory issue. It’s a focus. Well, not an  issue . I focus 100% on the writing, editing, story I’m working on. So when I go to another story, I’ve usually completely replaced that story with the last one in my head. Really good advantage to focusing though. By learning to do that I will focus only on one story at once and fully immerse myself. I may finish this by the end of the week, but we will

Completed! [dances] #amwriting

Working on  Sylphline Realm – Royal Blood  this week. Finished the book! My goal was around 90K words for this book, but as usual the writing of it was far different than what I thought it would be. In edits I add a lot of new scenes and information, as well as details. Details are scare when I write. Some writers overwrite and then have to cut. I am the opposite. I underwrite. Typically in deep edits I will rework chapters and scenes to the point that the book that I start with is a completely different one than you see. Shockingly so. I rearranged a couple scenes in  Blood By Night . The pacing was off, and shifting some around made it flow better. There was also a point where a chapter got the switcheroo and then once I read it through in the new place it was PERFECT because the storyline matched up so much better. So while I write I don’t think much about word count other than as a placeholder. My brain will be like, okay, this is around the place that the story should be wrapp

Almost done! Nearing the end #amwriting #fantasy

Working on  Sylphline Realm – Royal Blood  this week.   I’m near the end of this book and can’t even begin to say how happy that makes me. It’s not that I’m tired of it, just that I always love finishing a book! Makes me want to do a little happy dance. Super fun. Feeling pretty damn good. Then I can start a new book. :D Didn’t see the ending coming that’s in this book and that I’m headed toward. Gotta admit, it’s like fshewy. Was a bit busy this morning. After writing, I went to get the mower started and the darn mower wanted to be a pain in the butt. It didn’t help that the lever for the self-propelled function broke when I went to start it. Our mower is really heavy so at times I do like to use it when going up a little hill, through the really thick moss that’s in the front lawn, and things like that. I don’t always use it, but do need it, so I have to get that replaced soon. Twenty dollars just for that. Sheesh. I apologize to all neighbors who received the blasts of smoke a

Not much to say, too much to do

Working on  Sylphline Realm – Royal Blood  this week. Ooo Kennedy is being tested today in this chapter I’m working on. She has to play a part she really doesn’t like and I feel for the poor woman. All to protect herself and a little girl from a bad bad man. Got a lot to do and gotta get back to editing so not much to chat about. Wrote from 10:45 am – 11:15 am. Don’t forget to read the free preview of  Blood By Night     Word count I started the day with:  73,047   Worked from 10:50 AM – 11:15 AM. Ended the day at: 74,084. Goal for this book is around 90K. Blood By Night – Chapter One

One “I refuse to marry him.” Pacing in front of her father’s desk with her hands on her hips, Kylarra suppressed the growl working its way up. Her aggravation was as clear as day. The dark interior of Viktor’s office grew darker with her mood. Normally it was a place of comfort. Today, anything but. “Kylarra—” Viktor Knox began. “No, dad. I won’t marry Verrick Conrad . How—” Her father held up his hand. “Do not interrupt me.” The command from the alpha Lycaen silenced her at once, meeting no resistance from his baby girl. The only man capable of telling her what to do, she quieted as she met him with impressive obedience. Age had softened his features, but he remained a formidable presence. His size claimed the chair and office. The disease had taken its toll on him as of late and he had lost much of the muscle mass he once held, but the clothes he wore hid that fact. There was a reason he worked hard to show he was still capable and ready to defend his place. That he was Pack

May be finishing this series with this book

Working on  Sylphline Realm – Royal Blood ( Book Two in the series) this week. Curious where this book is going. I think this could be the last one in this series since I’m nearing the end and wrapping up the details that I wanted to with this storyline, but any writer worth their salt won’t say “ever” in terms of another  book in a certain series. Thoughts go to Anne Rice who has done that and then realized that she shouldn’t have. Love her. One just never knows. It was the fans who built  Dark Illusions  into a series and I am thrilled over that because that led to a series, which led to an entire Universe of connections. All thanks to readers asking me where such and such went, and they wanted to know what would happen to Kat and Julian after the end of DI: The Beginning. Why us writers love our readers so much. You guys are so important in a writer’s life for that reason. Look at the fandom that brought back The X-Files and the ones who  want  Firefly to come back. Please, pl

This week is Kennedy’s turn, further along than I thought

Working on  Sylphline Realm – Royal Blood  this week. I finished the cover idea yesterday, but I’m still tweaking. It’s not the final, but I’ll upload it and use it on this post for a placeholder. Thanks to the change in time, I got up late – shocking! lol So my day is off. Had we not had the time change, I would’ve been up early for a change. Berghs . <– Frustration sound, lol. Good word count at least. Only worked today from about 10:50 AM – 11:15AM and most of it was spent reading what I’d last written so that I could get the mindset back to where I left off. I’m further along than I thought I was for this book. I guess I forgot to update my word count tracker. I could go see what the last blog post was for the numbers, but meh. Things are picking up again, which I am loving. This is a Fantasy story, but there is a deeper element of the purest form of love as well so it’s an interesting experience for me to write, mostly because for a book like that, one has to dig deep into t
