You are perfect as is.

In this world of fast paced advanced living, it’s a sad fact that many believe the only way to be seen is to give themselves up by the camera. All they crave is someone to say, “I see you. I am here.” And even more to back up those words. They don’t want to be forgotten in the crowd. They want to be accepted as is. But how many go without? The biggest craving any human being wants is to just have someone BE THERE. No judgement. No condescending. No negativity. No Devil’s Advocate (which is simply another form of no support and lack of empathy). Just to embrace us when we need it. Give us empathy. Which means truly look outside of their own pain and say to that person in need, “I’m here for you.” Well, I am here to say, you are not forgotten. You are seen by those who matter. There is someone in your life that you are making a difference for. You don’t see, but they do. You ARE important to this world because you are the only one of you who exists. Whether or not you know it, whether

Blood By Night may release in March, instead of April

My editor tells me she may finish with Blood By Night tonight, if not tomorrow. If I don’t have too much to fix (so far it doesn’t seem like too much), I may be able to get through her notes quickly. Which would mean I could move my publish date from April, to March. And I want to mention for you again. If you haven’t read this, and you love the  Dark Illusions series, you’re going to be even more excited for this book to come out. As much as I am! Read this post and you’ll find out the whole caboodling. Here’s the cliff notes: Dark Illusions  continues in this book. I won’t go into detail as to how and why as that post does and it’s a lot of spoilers. I don’t want to worry those of you who are working your way through the series after reading the post above that I will spoil anything here. I won’t. But it does!   Originally posted on Kim Iverson's Website - http://ift.tt/1RRGH8I

Paperwork fun

Today I’m downloading and printing out all of my paperwork from sales and the sites that I list my books through. There are three. I haven’t yet gone direct through Barnes and Noble, so I don’t have to do that one. I do sell my books through them, just through different channels. I also sent off for my paperback proof of  Immortal Separation . I was concerned that the cover file wasn’t looking as good online as it should so I need to proof a physical version before then. I didn’t even know if the cover file would be approved. For the oddest reason, the cover file was saving in a much larger format than it should’ve so I couldn’t get the darn thing to upload yesterday. Jeanie let me know things are going well with the edits for  Blood By Night. I am pleased to hear it. Crossing my fingers that it keeps up. I think I’m going to start in on the paperback for my short stories for  The Shadow Room Files.  It’s going to be an extra special book though. For one, there will be more stor

Blood By Night sent off

BY THE WAY: Sent Blood By Night  to Creech Enterprises last night. Supremely happy about that. Today my anxiety level is up there. smh I don’t THINK it’s related because my anxiety has been up there in general lately. Either way it annoys me. Doing more yoga lately to calm the nerves. That’s what I hate about it. My body does that when stressed, even when consciously I am not aware of it and I don’t believe I am doing anything overtly stressful. I’ve suffered this my whole life but now it’s become PTSD thanks to all I’ve been through. I don’t function in normal society. One day I’ll be JUST fine and dandy and nothing bugs me, the next even breathing makes me want to run and hide. Then the thoughts go downhill so I have to work doubly hard to keep in the positive realm.Thank goodness for my writing. Gonna make myself some hot chocolate as a treat in a bit. I don’t have to edit, but now I have time to catch up on a lot of other things today like getting the new covers up for a couple

Brain workings – synapses and neurons

I was writing some new information into the ending of Blood By Night last night. I thought I would share a link that I found that talks about what I was writing. In the end of the book it’s referring to the brain’s ability to renew itself. In the book and the part that I wrote in there were abilities (I’m being careful not to spoil the story too much) that a character possessed, but which had been trained out, crushed out you could say. So the brain upon being triggered, sort of goes  boom and triggers new synapses. Not completely new as in they are forming and making new ones that weren’t there, but they have died and came back to life. Magical creatures for you. Anyway, here is an interesting informational link to go along with what you will be reading. I used this for research. Mostly to form my thoughts better if you’d like to read it. http://ift.tt/1oEIheF Originally posted on Kim Iverson's Website - http://ift.tt/1RWNhvd

Vincent – one of the most hated

Vincent. Vincent is one of the most hated characters from my DARK ILLUSIONS series. Being that Vincent is a Raaka, he epitomizes the brute playboy nature of their clan. Not as lovely a playboy as Sean or one of the others because of his vicious ways, still,  the man can entice women with his charm. Don’t let it fool ya. The man is insane, holds a temper, and doesn’t handle being told no so well. Classic nature of the Raaka, Vincent believes he should be Prince, not Julian. One has to wonder, why on earth would a man like Cyrus sire a man like Vincent if he was so terrible? I suspect it has something to do with Cyrus simply didn’t know how bad off Vincent would become. His desire to become Prince of all vampires is grand. His desire to have Kat? Near deadly. But why? What in it about her that the man simply has to have? I highly doubt that it is only to get into her pants. What I think is that beneath the crazy greed and gluttonous behavior, there is a cunning individual. You’ll hav
Rainy morning. There is a steady drip . . . drip . . . drip . . . next to me. The rain has decided to start coming through the fireplace. Not out into the living room, but I guess the cap that usually keeps most of the water out, isn’t doing such a good job anymore. We don’t use the fireplace because my elder mother’s sinuses don’t handle the smoke. So the fireplace doesn’t get used enough to stay dry. There is also an ordinance in our city that forbids the usage of them unless they are the main source of heat. City living. I thought I would attempt to get a bunch of editing done on Daughter of the Red Planet. I am attempting to stay off the computer today. The headaches and dizziness was really bad the past few days. I admit to pushing myself. Seems at only 35, my body wants me to be more careful with things of that nature. I’m sure others spend way more time on the computer than I do (I do an hour in the morning for writing and three in the afternoon for editing), but I have my

Pausing edits for breather

Not quite sure why I feel so incredibly exhausted today, but I do. I know I woke up a few times during the night, once being 3:30 AM (checked meh clock) and that will work against me. Maybe just too many nights like that. It was odd. I woke up to what sounded like the cat throwing up, but . . . not. A second later, Kona let out this deep growl when I turned over on my back to hear if it  was  the cat and try to listen for the sound. Kona was the only dog who growled too. I sssshhhhed him but I heard no other sounds. Then my brain was all, I bet you anything if you look at the clock it’s about 3 AM-ish.  Which is why I turned the clock on. The Witching Hour. I’ve used that in a short story I wrote ( Veronica – No #3 ) because the time is significant with paranormal activity. I’d say it was just my internal clock setting me to wake up at that time because when you’ve done that a few times your body will set itself to continue to wake at that time, buuuuuuttt for the sound and Kona’s

Kober

Kober. One of the most loved characters in my DARK ILLUSIONS series. Some deem vampires like him the most monstrous of all because his clan most resembles the classic vampire that one can’t even look at. Red eyes, extremely pale skin, and sharp pointed ears. Well, he makes up for that by being the gentlest individual he can be. A gentleman who keeps to himself, loves to paint, and has an endearing love for Kat. Perhaps because she sees him as beautiful. Not the monster that he and others see him as. Kober’s clan is hated because they are a reminder to all vampires. A reminder that at their hearts, all the vampires are monsters, demon even, not human. Kober also prefers to use the paintings as a way to calm this inner beast in a way. Because if he doesn’t find an outlet for his anger. . . well, Kat learns why nobody crosses Kober in DARK ILLUSIONS: THE NEXT CHAPTER. Kober’s clan is known as the: Vakava Originally posted on Kim Iverson's Website - http://ift.tt/1OQt5Iv

Blood By Night – #amediting – lessons learned

Fixing to do my final read-through before sending to Jeanie. I am taking a break before I do so that my brain is fresh. It’s funny. When I first started to publish, which was beginning of 2012 I believe, I didn’t have a care in the world about errors or anything but my story. Admittedly it was also because I didn’t  know  as much. Now that I have learned a lot, and continue to learn, I find myself going right back. Not going back in terms of bad writing and whatnot. It’s just that my confidence went downhill from a lot of bad experiences and then I started to worry too much over every single word. I started to think that if my grammar wasn’t perfect — whatever that was/is — that nobody would like my work. And coincidentally as I worked to make sure that my grammar was the most perfectest of perfect — see what I did there? — my stories suffered. My voice was ripped out of the work, it wasn’t as much fun. Editing killed me. Behind-the-scenes I suffered from a lot of severe headaches,

What is the secret already!

Before I start editing, I’m finishing this darn post! Also wanna mention that today is the day  Trust Your Instincts   is available to purchase! Grab your copy for only $0.99 before I raise the price. (It’s when I remember to so I don’t have a specific date or time – I am most fabulous I know!) I’ve been hinting at a few secrets regarding this latest book that I’m editing Blood By Night. One of the secrets that I have been keeping will be a long time coming, but I thought I’d go ahead and divulge the first and biggest secret that I’ve kept regarding the novel. This is going to be an adventure and I truly hope it makes you as happy to read as it’s made me to discover. That’s right, I didn’t know  anything  about this until maybe the end of Summer last year. It was while I was editing Don’t Go Far . If you haven’t read the Dark Illusions Books, or don’t want spoilers, don’t read below. . . . . . . .     So. The big secret is based purely off of one very important person.

Finished! Blood By Night on next phase –

All right! I’ve updated my editing widget on the front page for  Blood By Night. 5/7 steps. Going through “bug list” now. Common words, phrases, terms that I don’t always catch and wanna clean up. Usually spans about a month, then I can send to Creech Enterprises for editing. Just finished the 4th round of edits. Normally it would take me quite some time with it, but I happily surprised myself by taking much less time in that phase even though I had to do a lot of work. Even during last month. I was concerned that having to put Sabrina down would’ve screwed with my editing, but thankfully it didn’t. Well, it did. There were many days I edited through tears. It took me until January to stop crying every other day. I can make it a week now. Victory! So I’ll amend that above to say that it didn’t put me behind. Since my mom went to take a nap (her kidneys are acting up today) and brother is sleeping (worked from 9 PM last night to 11 AM this morning doing security), I’ll try and fi

Today’s lineup

I’m hoping to finish my last chapter or two of edits for BLOOD BY NIGHT today and the blog post about a secret I’ve been waiting to divulge. Both are almost there! Then it may be in a month I can send BLOOD BY NIGHT off to Creech Enterprises for editing. Got a nice backlist of things to update so I need to get this book done and gone. Off to writing for a bit. Working this week on WITNESS TO THE MOON. The second book after DON’T GO FAR in the ENCHANTING THE MOON series. Originally posted on Kim Iverson's Website - http://ift.tt/1n8pGua

Eet’s all white

Started to snow around noon here. We’ve been in the 40’s all week and it’s  been really cold and icy. I’m sure the snow may stick around because of the chill. The ice certainly hasn’t thawed all week. It’s interesting how as a child we are exuberant about seeing snow but now as an adult who is concerned about other things, I find that the excitement is bowled over by the thought that is not good for the roof. <!–more–> I thought I’d take some photos of Chewbacca because he had to potty and loves the snow. So I followed him outside and watched him for a bit. These are what I captured. What? Little bits of snow on his mug and head. I doubled up on shirts for him because I only recently cut his hair. The blue collar one and then a basketball Jersey that says USA on it. (It’s a weetle tight.) I’m working on helping him lose 5 lbs. With my mom’s medical issues, Chewbacca spent time in her bed on her bad days and didn’t get the exercise needed. Being her dog, he wanted to

What dreams may come

I dreamt about Sabrina last night. I’d like to say it offered me comfort, or maybe brought me peace, but I’d be lying. I woke up crying, feeling the loss all over again. I know that the heartache and pain is testament to him much I loved her, and how deeply. Doesn’t make it hurt less. I’ve never suffered heartbreak like this before. I’m not the only one going through it. All over the social sphere, I see it happening, which is incredibly sad for those who have lost their pets. I seem to be the only one not getting another puppy to help shift my focus though. I can’t afford one, otherwise I would’ve. I’ve always been crazy about Dobermans so I hope to get one one day. Sooner the better,  I am a big dog person. Wasn’t the only dream I had. I had a rare (read: very rare for me) nightmare before the Sabrina one. So bad, the girl who doesn’t usually get scared, turned on a light to check on the dogs and get my brain back to reality. I remember seeing a 3 toe alien foot (wasn’t yet scare
