This is something I do every year here. Especially around fall and winter because I love the scent filling the house. You've seen me post the images of making liquid potpourri much the same way as well. So this is how I do it to use as a home air freshener. What I love about lavender the most is the way the scent will remain in the stems for years to come. It dilutes a bit with each use, but once in a pot of water, the scent releases again and again.
Just don't forget to keep checking it so it doesn't dry out. When adding the water, it's best to use warm, but any temperature is fine. The cloves add that great "fall" scent. Cloves and cinnamon alone sort of makes one think of apple pie. At least my nose does.
